I need the phrase, "Family First" translated. So far i have found "Teaghlaigh An Chéad" to be most correct but would like to be sure. I know there are a few different words for family and want to make sure i have the correct word in the context. Thanks for your replies!
What you have there looks as though it comes from Google Translate, and is wrong for two reasons. First, it's in Irish, not Scottish Gaelic (the two languages are closely related, but different), and secondly, ignoring the bad grammar/syntax, in Irish it means roughly "families the first (one)".
In Scottish Gaelic, you could use this:
An teaghlach air toiseach.
The family first
In moving from one language to another, sometimes one needs to use the definite article ("the") in one language when one can do without it in the other language. In this particlulr case, it may be a toss-up, but I think it sounds better in Gaelic with the definite article.
