Hi All, first time post !

Looking for some assistance if anybody could help decipher please

The other week a few of us cousins were helping clear/sort a number of rooms following the unfortunate passing of a family member

Amongst other sentimental pieces i found what appeared to be a learning journal. To my knowledge they certainly didn't read or speak Gaelic publicly but I'm guessing they tried learning at some point

Most of the pages had single words with English & Irish next to each other but this one particular paragraph is on it's own

Would love to know what it says (or tried to say) if anyone can help that would be really really appreciated !!





I láthair dia, geallaim go mbeidh me dilis, grámhar agus comhbhách fear céile, trid an domhan seo agus an chéad cheann eile

It probably should mean:

In the presence of God, I promise to be a faithful, loving and caring husband, through this world and the next.

But it is grammatically very incorrect
