Where does it say he's selling the house?

I've just tried typing this story out for you to the bit where they're haggling, but I've found myself logged out and it's all gone.
As I said earlier it's on Internet Archive and as these stories were collected by the great Douglas Hyde, I'm sure you'd find it in a library near you.

Aon lá amháin gleus Páidín é féin agus chuaidhe sé chum
an duine-uasal ar leis an teach mór, agus d'iarr air,
an teach agus an talamh do bhí 'nna thimcioll, do dhíol leis.
"Tig leat an teach bheith agad gan chíos, acht tá taidhbhse
ann; agus níor mhaith liom thu dul do chómhnuidhe ann, gan a
innsint; acht ní sgarfainn leis an talamh gan ceud púnta
níos mó 'na tá agad-sa le tairgsint dam."

"B'éidir go bhfuil an oiread agam-sa 's atá agad
féin," ar Páidín, " béid mé ann so amárach leis an airgiod
má tá tusa réidh le seilbh do thabhairt dam."

"Béidh mé réidh," ar san duine-uasal.
Chuaidh Páidín abhaile agus d'innis d'á mhnaoi go raibh
teach mór agus gabháltas talmhan ceannuighthe aige.
"Cia an áit a bhfuair tu an t-airgiod ?" ar san bhean.
"Nach cuma dhuit ?" ar Páidín.
Lá air na mhárach, chuaidh Páidín chum an duine-uasal, thug
ceud púnta dhó, agus fuair seilbh an tighe agus na talmhan,
agus d'fhág an duine-uasal an truscán aige asteach leis
an margadh.

Voilà ;)

I don't what this is supposed to mean - the little man asks Paudyeen if he wants a drink and Paudyeen answers - "I'm not free from it." Free from what - the demon drink, thirst ?

"B'éidir go bhfuil tart ort," ar san fear beag.
"Ní'l mé saor uaidh," air Páidín.

And another thing, the little man is sitting astride a barrel/cask of wine, which wouldn't seem to be very Irish.

D'fhán Páidín ann san teach an oidhche sin,
agus nuair tháinig an dorchadas
chuaidh sé síos ann san tsoiléar,
agus chonnairc sé fear beag
le na dhá choir sgartha air bháirille.

"..it's on Internet Archive..."

Ah sure I was trying to get you to write it out

"Tig leat an teach bheith agad gan chíos"

I don't understand why he'd want rent if he was selling the house and the land.
Unless it's rates. A property tax.

"le na dhá choir sgartha air bháirille."

I didn't actually know that meant "astride".
As for barrels, they can store anything, póitín, cider, and dry goods like grain. I doubt it was wine, you're thinking too much like a Frenchman

"B'éidir go bhfuil tart ort," ar san fear beag.
"Ní'l mé saor uaidh," air Páidín."

I think that means he's not free from getting thirst.
He can get thirsty like any other person.

"Nach cuma dhuit ?" -

"That's none of your business".

In fact I do understand nearly all of the text, it's just that there are sometimes some expressions that I find surprising. (Macho man gets loads of money from out of nowhere and the wife wants to know how or why he's getting it and the only answer she gets is: - "It's no matter to you, is it not?" )

It is wine they're drinking, but because this is taking place in the cellar of the Big House, perhaps that makes it a bit more plausible that that is what they'd find there.
To prove it, this is what comes next -

Chuir an fear beag lámh ann a bhrollach, agus tharraing
sé corn óir amach, agus thug do Pháidín é, agus dubhairt
leis, " Tarraing fíon as an mbáirille sin fúm."

The two of them end up by getting half-drunk.......

This is the kind of thing that was puzzling me -

"béid mé mo charaid maith dhuit-sé.....
What was the word for - my - doing there ? but in fact I've since found out that it's an intensifyer and it's short form of - mór. I've never seen that before and I would never have guessed it either.

No, it isn't.

Beidh mé i mo chara maith duitse. = I will be a good friend for you.
"i" is silent here, so omitted.

Compare:
Tá mé i mo chara. = I am a friend.
Tá sé ina fhear. = He is a man.
etc.
