Good evening I was hoping someone would be able to help me with the correct translation of "always by your side" to Irish. Although my OH is Irish I cannot ask him as it I would like to get it engraved on his Christmas gift. The two translations I have been given are:
"i gcónaí ag do thaobh" or "I gcónaí le do thaobh"

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My personal opinion is go with "I gconaí le do thaobh". I'm not an expert so I'm really not positive but the other way really doesn't sound right at all. "le do thaobh" rolls nicely off the tongue I think.

"Le do thaobh" is correct. I've never heard "ag do thaobh"...sounds like Béarlachas.

I might move "i gcónaí" to the end...sounds better to my ear, though I can't say the other way isn't correct.

Do be aware that, if you go with initial caps, the "g" will remain lowercase: "i gCónaí."

If you want something with the meaning of "forever" rather than "at all times," "go deo" or "go brách" could go in there instead of "i gcónaí.

Wait for more.
