Advanced thanks to all the volunteers here for the following:

I'm getting a tattoo and I would like the correct translation of the phrase "From The Ashes"

If there are differences, I'd appreciate it in Ulster dialect (GU).

The context is, I'm celebrating three years of sobriety, so it refers to a personal and spiritual resurrection.

Again, many thanks for all your help.

In Irish I think you'd just say 'from the ash":

As an luaith.

And congratulations on the occasion, sgt.

Follow up question. Focloir.ie dictionary gave me “éiri ó na mairbh”

They said this phrase specifically referred to a Phoenix rising from the ashes, which what I’m referring to...

Does that make more sense?

This means verbatim "to rise from the dead"
na mairbh (the dead) is plural (dead persons), there's no "ash"

https://www.focloir.ie/en/dictionary/ei ... phoenix__3 says
"to rise like a phoenix from the ashes"

The phoenix himself rises from his own ashes, i.e. ó / as a luaith féin.

Thank you, Labhrás.

Upon consideration, I guess what I really want to say is, "I rise from my own ashes"

And am I correct in guessing "luaith" is a conjugation of luaithreach, specifically referring to ashes of the cremated?

Your assistance is much appreciated. This is important to me and I want to get the meaning right.

Hmm, luaith and luaithreach are synonyms, I'd think. Both mean ashes in English.

luaith is a singular noun
luaithreach has a further, probably collective suffix -reach

Don't know whether one of them is more specifically referring to human ashes, perhaps luaithreach (próca luaithrigh = cinerary urn)

Got it.

So, may I have the correct Irish for “I rise from my own ashes”?

Éirím as mo luaith(reach) féin.
