Hi, Jay Bee

To stop things getting too off topic, we have the following general policy on the forum:

Quote:
In general, posts in English should be related in some way to Irish language or culture.

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4

One simple way to meet this requirement would be to add an introduction in Irish in your first post, for example.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Chonaic mé an amhrán sin cúpla mí ó shin. Is é greannmhar é. Deir mo chlann
go bhfuil an fuaim ar an nGaeilge ar nós "Elvish" sa scannán "Lord of the Rings".

Ag obair liom,
Féabar Mac

Sounds about right to me! But the real question is... could we pull off that dancing...

Nach bhfuil Elvish bunaithe ar an mBreatnais?? So bheadh sé cosúil le Gaeilge.

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

Beadh sé. Níl mé ró-cinnte. Ach, nuair a bhionn mé a labhairt an Gaeilge, bíonn mo chlann ag gaire agus deir siad go bhfuil an fuaim ar an nGaeilge Elvis. Níl a fhios agam cén ait a raibh as an Elvis sa scannán. Ceapaim go bhfuil sé greannmhar.

Tá Sindarin bunaithe ar an Bhreatnais, tá an ceart agat. Tá Quenya bunaithe ar an Fhionlainnis. Agus an rud is aistí ann ná go dtearn Tolkien stair iomlán na dá teanga, ó Quenya go Sindarin. Sin a rá go dtearn sé stair teangeolaíoch ón Fhionlainnis go dtí an Bhreatnais, rud nárbh fhurast!

Tá, cinnte. Ní thig sí go díreach ón Quenya, ach thig an dá cheann acu ón Ghnáth-Eldarin. Scaradh in dhá ghéaga é sin: Quenya agus Telerin.

Labhair na Vanyar agus na Ñoldor a leaganacha féin de Quenya in Valinor, ach an leagan is mó is eol dúinn ó na scéalta ná Quenya an Mhéan-Domhain, .i. Quenya na Ñoldor i ndiaidh daofa Valinor a fhágáilt agus a ríocht féin a bhunú ar an Mhéan-Domhan.

Tá leaganacha den Telerin ann chomh maith atá íontach gar leis an Quenya, mar shampla an teangaidh a labhair na Telerin a chuaigh thart go Valinor níos moille ná na Vanyar ’s na Ñoldor. Ach tháinig athraithe móra ar na teangacha a labhair na Telerin eile, iad siúd a d’fhan ar an Mheán-Domhan, agus is ceann de na teangacha udaí í Sindarin.
