Here I am again, with another question regarding an Irish song.
In Clannad's version, the last part of Dúlamán lyrics goes as follows:
Dúlamán na binne buí
Dúlamán a' tsleibhe
Dúlamán na farraige
Is dúlamán a' deididh
I've found a translation on several websites, but the last word seems to be omitted everywhere:
Seaweed of the yellow cliff
Seaweed of the mountain
Seaweed from the sea
Seaweed __
So, my question is: what is 'deididh'? I suppose there is a typo, since dictionaries don't seem to know such a word. Teanglann.ie offers 'déideadh' (toothache) and 'déadadh' (humming), neither of which make much sense in the context of the song.
It's "toothache." Certain types of seaweed were used to treat toothache.
