Thank you for the explanation :)
I think I'll use stóirín as they'll always be my little ones

I'm not sure I'd use "stóirín" if you're including all your children. "Stór" can (and should) be used as a singular here because it refers to a treasure "store"...a place in which you can keep all your treasures. It's a collective singular, just as "clann" is. "Stóirín" is used as an endearment addressed to one person, and is inherently singular. I'd either keep "stór" or make "stóirín" plural ("mo stóiríní"). My inclination, though, would be just to keep "stór"

Wait for more

Thank you Redwolf, in that case I will use stór.

My appointment is in 3 weeks so hopefully some more people will confirm just to be 100% sure :)

Or stóiríní...

If more people agree that that is correct I'm partial to that but I'm not here asking for a translation for nothing :) I'll listen to the experts

I printed both translations to see what looked best as a tattoo and decided on:

Mo stór, mo ċuisle, mo ċlann

Both for aesthetic reasons and because both Redwolf and Labhrás agreed on the translation.

I would just like to ask if more people agree on this translation, simply because it'll be permanently tattoooed on my body within two weeks.

Again, thank you Redwolf and Labhrás, your help was appreciated. If it was possible I'd bake you some Triple Chocolate Chip Cookies as a thank you :good:

Yes, it's accurate.

A Naeara, a chara,

Actually I think your original order is the most beautiful to the ear:
Mo chuisle, mo chlann, mo stóirín

I like the consonance with the ch & l, I think it sounds lovely.

If it helps with "stór," it actually means "my treasure" as in "my treasure hoard." So you can have any number of people be part of your "stór."

What a brilliant comment! Thanks, Redwolf!

Thank you for the reply, Cúmhaí.
Why did you use stóirín instead of stór?

One of my colleagues turns out to be from Irish heritage and sent my screenshot to her family to translate (without giving the English translation so they wouldn't be influenced by that) and they recommended:
Mo stór, mo chuisle, mo chlann

Can you explain a bit more why you would change the order?

I did so only because I thought you had said you preferred it.

Of course all of this is matters of preference. But allow me to explain mine.

The two you suggested previously had "stór" in the middle. I didn't like them because I like the consonance of "chuisle" and "chlann" and thought they sounded more beautiful together. Based on this criterion, the above recommendation from your friend is also pleasant.

On a different note, however, have you considered
Mo chlann, mo chuisle, mo chroí ?
I like the alliteration, personally :P

Thank you for the quick response! :)

True, initially I preferred stóirín due to the meaning but as stór is just as good I printed both and copied them on my arm... When seeing it like that stór seems to be the better choice.

The alliteration would be a nice bonus (and that is one of the reasons I put stór upfrony) but I want to emphasise that they mean the world to me, as in they are my greatest treasure. If I used chuisle and chroí I would have the feeling I'm repeating the same sentiment twice instead of having two different meanings in one sentence.
Although I've heard that "chuisle mo chroí" (sorry if that's not entirely correct) is a regularly used endearment.
It could be that my native language (Dutch) is influencing this, which is why I've turned to as many different sources as possible for the translation of my tattoo.

As said before, English isn't my native language so please tell me if I'm unclear or making mistakes. :)

Why yes, I guess that is true enough. "my pulse" and "my heart" are, indeed, very similar in meaning. "Cuisle mo chroí," the pulse of my heart, is indeed a term of endearment all its own.

I am glad you are going to such lengths to make it perfect. In the end it is you who will bear it and see it every day, so it is up to you. I merely recommend that you keep the alliteration together, as you seem to want to as well.
