Hi all! Noobie big time here, I have a driving desire to learn Gaelic but trip over it alot, and it hard to self teach. But, Im mainly of Irish/Scot/British descent and I love all things Irish and Celtic (is it ok to use the K- Keltic thing here?) and Im tryin' to teach myself Gaelic, and Ogham, as I am also into the Druidic thing also.

I am also writing a book, a fiction, LOTR style, in which my 'Ennish' elves are based on the Celts and they speak Gaelic as their language. I dont use Gaelic words proper, but rather an attempt at a phonic pronounciation key. I use this for my translations alot

http://www.abair.tcd.ie/?page=synthesis&lang=eng

But Im not sure how accurate it is. I have written one book, it has not gone to the publisher yet but I dont have long and I wont be able to make any changes to the limited Gaelic/Ennish I have in it now. Im working on the second book now, and will prolly ask for some pretty strange translations.

Im a wife and mother of two beautiful children, I live in the states. I had a Warmblood named 'Anamchara' (we all called her 'Chara') but she was hit by a car, I trained her in Gaelic and would speak to her in my limited Gaelic. I am looking for another horse now, and I want to train her as well, tho I may ask if I am pronouncing a few things properly first, as my original Gaelic teacher went to Dublin and we lost contact.

I want to thank all of you ahead of time for your patience, your knowledge, and your time in helping me! :GRMA:

Fearadh na fáilte isteach romhat a chara. Bain sult is greann as an chuideachta sa ghrúpa iontach seo !
The warmest welcome to you friend. Get enjoyment and humor from the company of this wonderful group here!

I am a learner for about 2 years AND just as importantly, I too drive horses. My main driver is an Irish Sport named "Bugs".
I drive single marathon and double marathon carriages around my ranch when I'm not studying Irish or working on a project.
I'm not as advanced as most of the people here, but there are some very professional translators here who have a thorough
command of the language. I like to bounce questions off of them frequently.

You will find it's a great place to give your Gaeilge (Irish) or Gáidhlig (Scottish Gaelic) a try,
Féabar Mac

Fáilte romhat isteach, DarkChylde. I've seen you over at IGTF. Welcome to ILF.

I too love horses though I don't own one myself. If I did, I'd lean towards getting a Clydie myself. I'll have to get rich like Faber first.

It will be nice to see another writer here getting strange translations. :good:

Do you have a literary agent or are you dealing with a publisher directly?

Thanks, Pennyrat! I love using what I have learned so far, and I enjoy the other things I have learned as well, perusing old posts.

I appreciate all there, and here!
