What is your opinion about Irish language songs of Enya? Are a good model?

She's a native speaker of Irish, so I think it's safe to say she's a good role model as to the language.

I don't know her songs very well, but more than once, I saw obvious mistakes in some of her titles, eg. "Na laetha geal m'óige", which should be "laetha geala m'óige"... this is basic grammar. Also "Deireadh an tuath" : should be "Deireadh na tuaithe".

In the song "Deireadh an tuath", there are also weird mistakes in the lyrics:

'Sí na Samhna,
tús na Bliain Ur.
'Sí an crann marbh.
Deireadh an tuath.

should be:
'S í Samhain (no reason to have a genitive)
tús na bliana úire (genitive this time)
's é an crann marbh (crann is masculine)
deireadh na tuaithe (genitive)

I wonder how a native speaker can make such mistakes... Also, Enya's father didn't have much Irish (he wasn't from the Gaeltacht). I had an Irish language teacher whose wife was from Gaoth Dobhair, and he told me that the main language of the Ó Braonáin family was English.

So... I trust the Ó Maonaigh family and the Ó Domhnaill family much more, as far as Irish is concerned, even though I love Clannad's music too.
