what is the difference between the word croí and gcroí?
The basic word is
croí, but for grammatical/pronunciation reasons, the "g" is added after
inár ("in our"), indicating that the initial "k" sound of
croí changes to a "g" sound. Irish, like other Celtic languages, has a lot of these "consonant mutations", especially at the beginning of words.
Similarly, if you wanted to say "my heart", then it would be
mo chroí, indicating a different mutation after the possessive pronoun
mo ("my").
