Here's a good book to start off with:

"Favourite Poems That We Learned In School As Gaeilge" – Thomas F. Walsh

There are people here who are far more qualified than I am to talk about this, but looking around I can only suggest what is probably only blindingly obvious to them.

Sean Ó Ríordáin
Máirtín Ó Díreáin
Máire Mhac an tSaoi - and the Inntí Group
Liam Ó Muirthile
Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill
Caitlín Maude
Gabriel Rosenstock - of whom I had the privilege of hearing reciting his haïkus, here in Paris.

There's the online catalogue of http://www.coisceim.ie and Litríocht also have quite a number of pages of poetry books (in the Literature section)
(and I mustn't forget Merriman and The Midnight Court as well as Pangur Bán - mentioned before on this forum)

well that's a start anyway..... ;)

This is going on the "to purchase" list. Looks awesome from the few pages that are available on Google Books.

Yeah, it's got all of the classic stuff that most Irish speaking folks have read – it's worth its weight in gold.

'Síoda ar Shíoda' by Clíodhna Cussen & Mícheál Ó Ruairc printed by Coiscéim see coisceim.ie.
The poems span the years 700-2000 and I found it an excellent choice.
'An Duanaire' Poems of the Dispossessed 1600-1900 edited by Seán Ó Tuama and Thomas Kinsella
printed by Dolmen Press

You might also enjoy the poetry of Michael Hartnett (Micheál ÓhÁirtéide), who started writing in English and then switched completely to Irish.More info at Eigsemichaelhartnett.ie.
