FYI: DVD The Hanging Gale mini series introduces life during the Great Famine of 1846, set in Donegal and follows the Phelan family. Four brothers, who are brothers in real life, approach the issues of the time very differently. Loosely based on the family history of the McGann family, Joe, Mark, Paul and Stephen McGann step into the roles convincingly. It is a haunting story, with details that help explain much that is Irish heritage and immigration at the time. Apparently available on youtube too.

Thanks. I'll definitely be checking this out. I've been checking out more flicks about Ireland itself, and have a hard time finding anything in our local video store to rent. Netflix and Youtube are really my only means of finding this stuff right now though, so thanks for the heads up!
