These are a series of quotations from primary school children in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales - it must have been part of a literacy project sometime ago - that have been put into bookmark form in a teacher's magazine.

I wish I was the fastest reader in the world.
I wish that books were magic and whoever read them became part of the story.
I wish there were books that when you opened them the characters would jump out.
I wish I had met Roald Dahl before he died.
I wish I had lots of time to read.
I wish I could fly into a book.
I wish everyone could read at level 4.
I wish I could read every book and know every hard word in five minutes.
