Hi all,

I am looking to get "My Beautiful princesses, my sweet daughters" translated into Gaelic for a tattoo i have wanted since they were born.

I had "My Beautiful princess, my sweet daughter" translated as "A bhanphrionsa álainn, a iníon gleoite" previously but since my wife has given birth to another beautiful princess so i need the saying pluralized.

Thanks so much in advance to all who can help me.

Mike

What you have there is vocative (direct address), as if you were speaking to her. Is that what you wanted? If so, so pluralize it:

A bhanphrionsaí áille, a iníonacha gleoite

Wait for more input, please.

A question for the others here...I've often seen/heard "banphrionsa" for "princess," but I've recently run acros "banfhlaith," and I'm wondering if that would be better/more traditional?

This all depends on how you are going to use the phrase "My Beautiful princesses, my sweet daughters".

A bhanphrionsa álainn, a iníon gleoite "My Beautiful princess, my sweet daughter"

A bhanphrionsaí áille, a iníonacha gleoite "My Beautiful princesses, my sweet daughters"

The above are phrased as if you are calling _to_ your daughter/daughters.

If you are talking _about_ your daughter/daughters, as in a caption on a picture, etc., then the following forms would be more appropriate:

Mo bhanphrionsa álainn, m'iníon gleoite "My Beautiful princess, my sweet daughter"

Mo bhanphrionsaí áille, m'iníonacha gleoite "My Beautiful princesses, my sweet daughters"

Await further input ...

Breandán is correct. One refers to speaking to them, the other about them.
