Hi!! I am planning to have something special engraved for my Dad for Christmas with one of the following phrases and would appreciate help in having them translated to Irish Gaelic.

1) My Protector, My Mentor, My Father

2) Dad you are forever in my heart

3) my protector, my mentor, helping me grow in life. I love you Dad.

4) My Hero, My Dad

Thank you so much for taking the time to translate these for me!!!! It would mean the world to me.

Perhaps:

1) Mo Chosantóir, Mo Chomhairleoir, M'Athair "My Protector, My Mentor, My Father"

2) A Dhaid, beidh tú i mo chroí go deo "Dad, you will be forever in my heart."

3) Mo chosantóir, mo chomhairleoir, ag cuidiú liom agus mé ag fás sa saol. Mo ghrá thú, a Dhaid.
"My protector, my mentor, helping me grow in life. I love you Dad."

4) Mo Laoch, Mo Dhaid. "My Hero, My Dad"

Await further input ...

1) A Chosantóir, a Chomhairleoir, a Athar = Protector, Mentor, Father

In my version, you are talking to your father directly. Breandán's version works better if you want to tell the world that your father is your protector and mentor (you are talking ABOUT him, not TO him, if that makes sense).

Yes, good point, Mick. :good:

I assumed this was a description "(You are/this is) my protector, my mentor, my father", which I think still applies, but Mick's version is talking directly to your father actually calling him those names ("Father, may I borrow the car?" "My Lord, I beseech thee." - except it isn't archaic in Irish.)
