Hi,

I got to find a name for my new Irish Wolfhound puppy, already got a old Wolfhound whos name is "Weillin o chnoic na gaoithe" , and this puppy will be a new friend for him.

It's really important for me to give a name with gaelic meaning, a kind of respect for this breed, with a part of harmony between the dog and his name.

I've selected some names : Ardal, Aidan, Uinseann, Ultan, Illann, Aeron, and three others for wich i request the correct pronunciation Eirnin, ARAWN, EMRYS.

Got to make a final choice, and after ask for an extended name wich is more poetic like the name of my old Weillin, if you ever got better names idea, it will be a pleasure, but the name have to begin with H or a Vowel.

Thank you all.

Illann and Aeron are Jewish names. Arawn and Emrys are Welsh.

Aidan (actually Áedán) is Old Irish, in Modern Irish it's Aodhán.

Eirnín must be AYRN-yeen in phonetics.
Arawn is AH-rown
Emrys is EMM-riss

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

It will be hard to find examples that begin with a "h" because words very rarely begin with one in Irish, unless they're new words that have entered the language recently. "H"s are used mostly to show a shift in pronunciation, for various reasons that are necessary.

Enech - old.Ir for "face" but also means "honour"

Also, Oisín means "little deer"- which is funny because wolfhounds grow that big ;) .

Wait for confirmations!
