it's exactly the same ending, but not pronounced the same way.
I've been told previously that the ScG -ich and Irish -igh endings have different historical antecedents. I may have been told wrong -- but that's what I was told.
Of course, even if that's true, both Irish and Islay Gaelic have generalised the -igh to be a phonetic rule, so either way, it's not important in the grand scheme of things.
