Let me know what you make of the comparison though, I will fully admit that I do not yet have a developed ear for discerning Irish r sounds, but dammit am I trying .


Yeah they're nice to listen to and certainly Donncha has lovely Irish all in all, even if he's using some English r's.
I think one of his parents is a Corca Dhuibhne native speaker but he grew up in Dublin and went to a Gaelscoil, which would explain the r's. I don't think I've ever heard a Dublin school speaker use a non-English r, let alone know that Irish r's are different.
In terms of podcasts or the like I'm not sure and honestly I haven't gone looking, although I believe that Donncha does the weather on TG4! https://www.tg4.ie/en/information/press/press-releases/2020-2/tg4s-new-weather-presenters/ (or at least did the weather in 2020 for a bit).
